Sometimes you see things and you know you're going to draw or paint it at some stage but you don't know when. This oak tree in winter watercolour I did a few weeks ago but saw a couple of years ago.
It is based on a tree I encountered getting off the bus in Stockholm on the way to the botanical gardens. I have no idea how long it's been there by the side of a busy highway but I thought it was magnificent. Protecting and nurturing everybody as they get off the bus. It's actually huge- maybe 150 feet.
The colour shifts and turns symbolising the life of the tree. When we're talking about trees we're always talking about a distinct personality don't you think?
